Biography

Chase Azimi was born and raised in Northern California. An East Bay Area native, Azimi attended Moreau Catholic High School (Hayward, CA) before graduating from Foothill High School (Pleasanton, CA) in 2006. During his Senior year at Foothill, Azimi was part of a crew of students that shot, edited, and ran daily video-bulletins for the entire student and faculty body. Realizing his calling early, Azimi would go on to graduate from San Francisco State University's Cinema Department in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in Cinema; Dual Emphasis in Production and Studies.

During his stint at S.F.S.U, Azimi authored several short 16mm and digital films en route to a 3.42 GPA, spending the duration of his collegiate career on the Dean's List. An active student, Azimi was the President of the Competitive Gaming Community at S.F.S.U and hosted several dozen local, regional and national video-game tournaments. A dedicated Teacher's assistant, he taught and lectured an Instructional Videography Class (ITEC 770) where he educated students on how to shoot and edit their own films. Chase additionally studied Cinematography and Production heavily, pursuing advanced coursework that would lead towards working in the Camera Department.

As a graduating Senior of S.F.S.U, Azimi took part in San Francisco State's pioneer bilateral exchange program with China by accompanying several select graduates and undergrads to attend the first-ever International Documentary Workshop at Shanghai Normal University's Xie Jin School of Television & Film. Under the tutoring of his professor and Beijing Film Academy graduate, Weimin Zhang, Azimi and his crew authored a "rockumentary" entitled, _Made In China (2010) qv. The film was a two-week labor of love; co-shot, edited and produced by fellow SFSU students Ben Goldberg, Hart Perez, and directed by Javier Roberto-Carlos. The film went on to premier at the 2010 San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival to a sold out house. Eventually the film would receive the 2011 Delphic Art Movie Award and play at several other film festivals both abroad and state-side.

Azimi resides in the Northern Hollywood area and works as a freelance Camera Assistant, Grip, Electric, and Behind-The-Scenes Photographer. When he isn't on set, he enjoys watching hockey, playing bass and reading.

Enjoyed a 2 year stint as "Pro-Am Teen Newcomer Champion" on The United Country Western Dance Council. Competed against soon-to-be-stars Benji & Lacey Schwimmer in Nightclub and West Coast Swing.

Is a dual-citizen of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Joined I.C.G. Local 600 as a 2nd Assistant Cameraman in early 2015.
