Paul Atkinson is a freelance filmmaker, digital imaging technician & photographer based in Surrey & Dorset. He has been combining his love for cinematography & travel, working on some incredible projects, allowing him to work all over the world with some incredibly talented people. He has been working on range of productions from prime-time BBC dramas such as Atlantis (2013) to Formula One advertising, live sports broadcasting & magazine format television shows such as Top Gear (2002).
Atkinson is experienced with a range of digital cinema camera set-ups and in handling a variety digital media, seeing all rushes safely and efficiently through to the post-production stage. His goal is to capture, accurately document & portray every person, product and moment with creativity & craftsmanship. He has a passion for creating innovative & engaging, yet aesthetically pleasing content that can be enjoyed across multiple platforms, through clear narrative & beautiful imagery.
Atkinson has worked on projects with some of the world's most successful agencies, broadcasters and brands including Dorset Cereals, Playback Sports, Kode Media, Olympic Broadcasting Services, Little Monster Films, BBC, Smuggler London, Bwark Productions, Mirrorball Films, Publicis London, Whisper Films, The Classic Car Show, Extreme Facilities, Channel 4, Wise Old Fox Productions, Steam Motion and Sound, Creokinetics, Globe Productions, Noah Media Group, ITV Studios, ITV, Warner Bros. Atkinson has been lucky enough to work internationally on projects throughout the USA, Ethiopia, Borneo, Peru, South Africa, Kazakhstan, Morocco, Cuba, Bahrain, Oman, Australia & all over Europe. He also owns an independently powered DIT van, which can be used to continually work on remote locations. He has been managing director of Atlantek since January 2026.
Atkinson was educated at Dorchester Thomas Hardye School until 2003, Westminster Kingsway College between 2007 & 2009 where he got a Triple Distinction in Media Production & Moving Image, and Bournemouth University between 2009 & 2012 where he got a Bachelor of Arts in Television Production.
