Biography

  • Born in Shanghai, Masson began modeling in her home city. Fluent in English, Mandarin and her native Shanghainese and with a natural affinity for high fashion she became a favourite among the country's top photographers and established herself as one of China's premier models. Her classical Chinese beauty soon captured the attention of the international market and she became one of the first Chinese models to feature in Italian Vogue with a 16-page editorial shot by world-renowned French-American photographer Stephane Sednaoui. The Vogue spread catapulted Masson into the world of high fashion and her international career took off with offers from around the world. Deciding to live and work extensively in New York and Paris, she traveled the globe working on a variety of fashion and commercial projects.

Her editorial work has led her to shoot for numerous international magazines with covers including Vogue, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, GQ, Style, East West, Marie Claire, Grazia, Madame Figaro and Time Out. As well as a host of commercial work, Masson has appeared on the runway for fashion houses such as Dolce & Gabbana, Celine and Moschino.

She famously opened and starred in New York based label ThreeAsFour's Fall/Winter performance show at the NY Fashion Week. Inspired by Yoko Ono's 1965 cut piece performance, the show and collection earned rave reviews and was attended by Yoko Ono, Sean Lennon, Rober Redford and a host of New York's fashion elite.

With increasing offers to appear in film, Masson collaborated with music producer David Liang (Shanghai Restoration Project) where she starred in the "Miss Shanghai" music video. Her cinematic debut came with the female lead in the martial art action movie Blood Money (2012). Masson followed this with the lead female role in Stories Forlorn (2013), an independent drama set during the handover Hong Kong.

Trained in Da Sheng Pi Gua Men (Monkey kung fu), Masson continues to develop as an actor and build on her talents while working on a range of exciting projects. Unique in appearance and individual in attitude, her star power is destined to rise with the wonderful blend of beauty, raw talent, hard work and determination that truly sets her apart.
