Mary Ellis was born on 2 February 1917 in Leafield, Oxfordshire, England, UK. She was married to Donald Gordon Ellis. She died on 24 July 2018 in Sandown, Isle of Wight, England, UK.
When the ATA was disbanded in 1945, she was seconded to the RAF, where she became one of the first women to fly Britain's first jet fighter, the Gloster Meteor.
