Alec Whaite is a Venezuelan-born actor of British descent with an international career spanning film, television, and theatre across Europe, the United States and Latin America. Also a Spanish national, he is based between Madrid, London and Los Angeles. Raised in Caracas, Venezuela, Whaite grew up in a multicultural environment shaped by constant travel, becoming fluent in English, Spanish, Italian, and French. From an early age, he trained in theatre and performance arts and graduated with honors from high school in Venezuela, before continuing his studies at the United World College of the Atlantic in Wales, where he completed the International Baccalaureate with majors in Theatre, Literature, and Economics.

During his time studying in Wales, Whaite made his first on-screen appearance in Ironclad (2011), after the film's producer saw him performing in a local school play. He got a very small part in one of the film's most important scenes where he met and worked alongside actors Paul Giamatti and Brian Cox.

Shortly after graduating UWCAC and following Brian Cox's advice to pursue acting studies in England, he became the first Venezuelan admitted to the rigorous Royal Central School of Speech & Drama in London, one of the UK’s most prestigious drama institutions, where the likes of Sir Laurence Olivier and Dame Judi Dench have left their marks. He further continued his training at the Stella Adler Academy of Acting in Los Angeles, building a strong classical foundation rooted in both European and American acting traditions.

In 2011, a young Alec had the chance to audition for what would become his first notable appearance in a feature film. Chosen to play one of the leading roles alongside Goya Award- winning actress Carme Elias, the film The Longest Distance (2013) (La Distancia más Larga), directed by Claudia Pinto, started its record breaking international film festival circuit premiering at the 2013 Montreal World Film Festival and winning the Glaube Rocha Award for Best Latin American Film of the Year. The film traveled to more than 90 festivals, winning quite a few major coveted international awards, including Best First Film at the Platino Awards and achieving a Best Iberoamerican Film nomination at the Goya Academy Awards in Spain.

Other major international awards include: the Audience Award to Best Movie of the Year & Pablo Neruda Award at the Iberoamerican Film Festival of Huelva (2013), Reel Women Direct Award to the Best Female Director at the Cleveland International Film Festival (2014), Audience Award to the Best Ibero-American Fiction Film of the Year at the International Film Festival Panamá (IFF Panamá, 2015), Special Jury Award at the Trieste International Film Festival (2015) and the Audience Award to the Best Film of the Year at the Helsinki Latin American Film Festival (2015). Alec played the role of Kayemó, a ne'er do well with a heart of gold, born and raised in the Amazon with a dark past, who tries to redeem himself as he tries to find his way back home.

The Longest Distance (2013) achieved an unprecedented theatrical run, premiering three times in Venezuela due to audiences demand. The film was in cinemas for over a year in total, smashing national box office records. The Longest Distance has been praised critically and commercially worldwide and it found its permanent home on Amazon Prime. It was included as part of Sven Methling's Taste of Cinema's List of the 15 Best Latin American Films of the 21st Century alongside other groundbreaking films like: The Secret in Their Eyes (2009), The Motorcycle Diaries (2004) and City of God (2002).

Since then, Whaite has continued to work across high profile international productions in both English and Spanish, including The Paradise (2020) alongside Fran Perea and Shadow Wolves (2019) alongside acting icon Graham Greene, expanding his range across genres and markets. He has also appeared in lead and special featured roles in music videos for internationally recognized artists including Natti Natasha, Maná, CNCO, and Caramelos de Cianuro, which have collectively reached over 200 million global views, further expanding his screen presence across international and commercial audiences.

On stage, he has performed in productions such as Waiting for Godot, The History Boys, and Romeo and Juliet, directed by Oscar-winning theatre director Milton Justice. He also starred in 'Campeones de la Comedia', directed by Spanish comedy giant, Yllana's founder David Ottone and produced by Goya-award winners Javier Fesser and Luis Manso, touring to sold-out audiences across Spain during the 2022-2023 season.

Most recently, Whaite is set to appear in El castillo (2026), the highly anticipated Movistar+ original series produced by Rodrigo Sorogoyen's juggernaut production company Caballo Films and created by Goya-award winning Isabel Peña and Eduardo Villanueva, with Elena Martín and Sandra Romero Acevedo tapped as directors. Set for release in late 2026, the series marks a significant new chapter in his career, consolidating his presence within premium auteur Spanish television and across highly coveted international markets.
