Born Maribeth dela Cruz. She is widely known by her pen name, Martha Cecilia. A name she adopted after her daughter's name Martha Cecilia. She began writing soon after she met novelist Olga Medina. Her first published manuscript is entitled "Akin Ka Noon, Ngayon, at Kailanman". Several years and several pocketbook titles later, she along with other four writers met up with the publishers, where they were asked to write a series under the title "Kristine". Martha recalled that she did not want an American sounding names but Spanish or Tagalog and she did not know that a pocketbook series is possible. Martha soon accepted the job and hit her typewriter and started Beso del Diablo (Devil's Kiss) as the first novel under the Kristine Series. The rest was history.

Martha Cecilia succumbed to cancer on December 08, 2014.

Martha Cecilia&#39;s writing career was inspired after her meeting with Tagalog novelist Olga Medina.

Her first work &#39;Akin Ka Noon, Ngayon at Magpakailanman&#39; was published in 1997 by Precious Pages Corp. under its subsidiary Precious Hearts Romances.

Martha Cecilia had written novels which were later adapted to TV series which includes the gold medal awardee Impostor (TV Series) for Best Telenovela Category in International Emmy Awards.

She had written more than a hundred novels under different titles for Precious Hearts Romance like &#39;GEMS&#39;, &#39;My Love, My Hero&#39;, &#39;My Lovely Bride&#39;, &#39;PHR Classics&#39;, &#39;All Time Favorites&#39;, &#39;Sweetheart&#39; and her much acclaimed series &#39;Kristine&#39;.
