- Born Maribeth dela Cruz. She is widely known by her pen name, Martha Cecilia. A name she adopted after her daughter's name Martha Cecilia. She began writing soon after she met novelist Olga Medina. Her first published manuscript is entitled "Akin Ka Noon, Ngayon, at Kailanman". Several years and several pocketbook titles later, she along with other four writers met up with the publishers, where they were asked to write a series under the title "Kristine". Martha recalled that she did not want an American sounding names but Spanish or Tagalog and she did not know that a pocketbook series is possible. Martha soon accepted the job and hit her typewriter and started Beso del Diablo (Devil's Kiss) as the first novel under the Kristine Series. The rest was history.
