- Jim is a Scottish songwriter and musician of international note. In 2013 he was named the American Society of Composers and Authors, Songwriter Of The Year for his composition work on the track "Too Close" by Alex Clare.
As well as being a number one chart hit in Germany and a top 10 throughout Europe, "Too Close" sold over 5 million downloads in the US, with over a year on the Billboard, "Hot One Hundred" chart. In the UK a Brit Awards nomination followed for, "Song Of The Year". The song also featured in the "Taken" franchise, "Taken 2" starring Liam Neeson.
In Scotland, Jim is celebrated as being the mentor and collaborator of a young Paolo Nutini. As his Co-Writer (Last Request, New Shoes, Loving You, Autumn, Rewind), Jim was instrumental in helping the Paisley star create his debut Album, "These Streets". As well as being key in the creative process of writing and producing the record, Jim also performed on the album and toured extensively with Paolo for the entirety of the album's promotional campaign.
As a Warner Chappel song writer, Jim's songs have featured in several major films, TV shows and advertisement campaigns. These include Gavin and Stacey, PS I Love You, CSI: Miami, The Hills, Scrubs, I Am Bolt, Puma (international ad campaign) Dreams Beds, (UK ad campaign).
As a respected member of the songwriting community Jim has sat as a judge on the esteemed Ivor Novello Awards panels for both Song of the year and Album of the year. He also recently spent 3 years on the board at PRS for music as a representative for composers in various licensing deals advocating for creators rights.
Jim Is also involved in Projects with Scottish Artist Callum Beattie, and a new Independent film production.
