Rezwan Shahriar Sumit, a graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts' film program, is a filmmaker based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. His notable works include producing Sundance alum Barbara Cigarroa's acclaimed thesis film "Dios Nunca Muere," which premiered at the New York Film Festival. Sumit's debut feature film, "The Salt in Our Waters", brought the struggles of Bangladesh's climate change frontliners to the forefront at UN COP26 & UN COY16, receiving support from director Spike Lee and CNC Aide aux cinémas du monde & receiving seven National Film Awards. Sumit is in post-production for two documentaries, "Tide Is Rising" & "First Fairytale Book". These films are set in the unique coastal chars and hill-tracts of Bangladesh. His new film, "A New Prophet", is a science-fiction supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation ($100K grant), Film Independent, and Torino Film Lab.
Sumit works as a Consultant for the World Bank, where he led the creation of the PostPro TalentLab, a program aimed at enhancing the skills of post-production professionals in Bangladesh. Recently, he was elected to the Film and TV Steering Committee of UN Climate Change's Entertainment and Culture for Climate Action alliance.
