Biography

Mark Hoffe is a rock 'n' roll fan, rooter for underdogs and reader of books. His short film Snarbuckled (2010) was praised by John N. Smith (Dangerous Minds, Random Passage) as "widely imaginative, funny. Gorgeous cinematography. Reminds me of the young Terry Gilliam." Mark's other credits include head writer for season one of the docudrama series Save My Pet (2011), writer, director and producer for the CBC doc The Needle and the Damage Undone (2012), writer and producer for the CBC doc Sister Morphine (2014), and writer and creative director for Newfoundland and Labrador's first interactive web doc Bubble Dancers (2014), co-produced with the National Film Board of Canada.

Mark also wrote Justin Simms' Away from Everywhere (2016), a feature adaptation of Chad Pelley's book starring Shawn Doyle, Joanne Kelly and Jason Priestley. His feature screenplay No Voices in the Sky - a coming-of-age tribute to Lemmy Kilmister - won the inaugural $25,000 Daryl Duke Prize. A member of the Writers Guild of Canada and The Newfoundland Independent Filmmakers Co-operative (NIFCO), Mark puts passion and integrity into every project.
