Streaming Stars, Then and Now

Samantha Smart is the writer, producer, and star of "Charliebird" which won the top prize at the 2025 Tribeca Festival. The festival’s jury awarded the film with the Founders Award for Best U.S. Narrative feature describing it as "a deeply affecting portrait featuring grounded and complex performances" and called it "an assured and well-crafted debut." Smart also contributed two original songs to the film.

For her work on "Charliebird," she was awarded Roger Ebert’s Golden Thumb award presented by Ebertfest, was named one of Austin Film Festival's 'Screenwriters To Watch' for 2026 featured in MovieMaker Magazine, and received two Houston Association of Producers awards for best writing, and best actress. Additionally, the Houston Film Critics Society awarded "Charliebird" the Best of Houston Film prize.

Following sold out screenings at the Tribeca Festival and across-the-board positive reviews, "Charliebird" screened at the prestigious Mill Valley Film Festival, the Hamptons International Film Festival, Austin Film Festival, Denver Film Festival, SCAD Savannah Film Festival (awarded Best Feature Film), Coronado Film Festival (awarded Best Feature Film), Film Fest Knox, Houston Cinema Arts Festival, Jackson Hole International Film Festival, Tribeca Lisbon, Cleveland International Film Festival, Sarasota Film Festival (awarded Best Feature Film), and Ebertfest. It also won the Marcello Petrozziello Award at the Lucca Film Festival in Italy.

Smart’s acting career includes the Oscar®-Nominated "Jane Austen's Period Drama," recurring roles in The CW’s "Riverdale" spin-off series "Katy Keene" and "Bull" on CBS. Additionally, she appeared in guest star roles in "Dear White People" and "God Friended Me." Smart has also appeared in independent features "Liberty" as well as the Netflix original "The Noel Diary."

Smart graduated from Louisiana State University with degrees in classical music and dance. She continued her education in Los Angeles, New York, and Paris where she studied theatre. Born and raised in League City, Texas, Smart splits her time between Texas, and France.
