Biography

Griz was born in Indonesia and fell in love with animation as a little girl watching Walt Disney's Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty.

She graduated as a valedictorian from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and then joined Dreamworks Animation Art team as an artist. In 2015, Griselda's dream on being a Disney artist came true. She joined the Walt Disney Animation Studio's Art Department as a visual development artist specializing in character and costume design along with vis-dev concept pieces.

She is the costume designer for Anna in Frozen 2 and character design lead for Olaf Frozen Adventure. She also contributed Wreck It Ralph 2 and a few unannounced Disney feature animated movies. Her contributions can be seen in movies and specials such as: Moana, Inner Workings, Home, Penguins of Madagascar, How to Train Your Dragons 2, Me and My Shadow, the Croods, Kung Fu Panda: Legend of the Masters, Rise of the Guardians, Neighbors from Hell, Puss in Boots, the Three Diablos, Donkey Christmas Shrektacular, and Shrek Forever After. She was also part of the development team in concept movies such as Doodle, Zodiac, Time Crime, Trolls, Imaginary Enemy, American Girl, and Best Witch Ever (all working titles).

GRISELDA SASTRAWINATA-LEMAY (Griz) is an Associate Production Designer for "Zootopia 2" and a Visual Effects Society Award nominee for Cinematography for her color script work on the film. Originally from Jakarta, Indonesia, she spent her first 15 years there. Griselda joined Walt Disney Animation Studios in 2015, initially contributing her skills as a visual development artist to the Academy Award®-nominated film "Moana." Her recent projects include serving as Associate Production Designer on "Wish" and working as a visual development artist on "Moana 2." She has also led costume designs for the character Anna in "Frozen 2," created the distinctive opening for the Oscar®-nominated "Raya and the Last Dragon," inspired by shadow puppet traditions from Southeast Asia, and designed the costumes for the Madrigal family in the Oscar®-winning feature "Encanto." Additionally, she took on the role of character design lead for the animated holiday featurette "Olaf’s Frozen Adventure," where she designed new costumes for beloved characters from the "Frozen" franchise and the residents of Arendelle. Her additional credits include visual development work on the Disney Animation feature "Ralph Breaks the Internet." Before joining Disney, Griselda worked at DreamWorks Animation on notable projects such as "Home," "Penguins of Madagascar," "How to Train Your Dragon 2," "Me and My Shadow," "The Croods," "Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness," "Rise of the Guardians," "Neighbors from Hell," "Puss in Boots," "The Three Diablos," "Donkey's Christmas Shrektacular," and "Shrek Forever After." Griselda attended the Art Center College of Design, where she graduated as valedictorian. Inspired by Disney classics such as "Sleeping Beauty" and "Cinderella," she pursue a career in animation.
