Biography

Omar Elba

Overview

  • Born
    September 19 · Alexandria, Egypt
  • Height
    6′ 0½″ (1.84 m)

Biography

  • Omar Elba has taken on strikingly different roles, from appearing opposite Tom Hanks as his sidekick in his feature film debut, 'A Hologram for the King', to portraying a socially isolated refugee living with PTSD in A24's critically acclaimed Netflix series 'Mo'.

His nuanced portrayal of a character navigating life with neurodivergent traits was widely praised, particularly within the neurodivergent community. Though not neurodivergent himself, Omar worked closely with ASD behavioral therapists and members of that community to prepare authentically for the role.

Classically trained in Shakespeare at the American Conservatory Theater, he is also a stand-up comedian with featured appearances on Comedy Central and Showtime.

In addition to acting, Omar wrote and directed Tim, a Freudian short film exploring the Ego, Id and Superego, for which he underwent two distinct physical transformations to portray the film's central roles.
