Biography

Scott Burton is an American filmmaker, producer, writer, poet, and actor from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He began working in independent film in 2006, contributing both in front of and behind the camera to productions including The Good Soldier and The Gospel According to Booze, Bullets & Hot Pink Jesus, Act I: The Missionary Man.

As a producer, Burton helped bring several independent short films to the screen, including the science-fiction films Vessel and 4th Paradox. His work across these and other productions has extended beyond producing to performance, sound, music, aerial photography, and the practical demands of independent filmmaking.

After years of collaborating on the work of other filmmakers, Burton began developing his own body of character-driven stories. His writing explores memory, longing, identity, grief, survival, and the unfinished connections people continue to carry long after relationships end. His screenwriting work includes When We Were Here, The Distance Between Stars, and the Yellow Daisy trilogy.

Burton is currently(2026) working on a narrative writer-director with Room Tone, an intimate short drama told through separate filmed interviews with two people reflecting on a relationship neither has fully escaped.

He is also the author of the poetry collection Forever Is Tomorrow and the ten-volume Chaos series. Across film, fiction, and poetry, his work is defined by emotional intimacy, poetic realism, and an interest in the truths people carry quietly but struggle to express.
