Kecia J. Benson is an award-winning filmmaker celebrated for her bold cinematic vision and storytelling finesse. Her journey began in 2009 as an assistant director on Spare Change, the feature debut of actress Azariah Gunn. That pivotal moment launched a dynamic career, leading her to collaborate with acclaimed directors such as Spike Lee, Tim Story, and Charles Stone III, and contribute to major networks including HBO, MTV, VH1, TV One, CW, and BET.

After three formative years freelancing with Spike Lee as a production assistant, Kecia stepped into the director's chair. Her directorial debut, Unidentified (2010), a gripping thriller about a man held for ransom, earned recognition across multiple festivals, including the 2011 Reel Sisters of the Diaspora Film Festival.

In 2012, she directed Beale Street Blues, a provocative documentary spotlighting the struggles of Black blues musicians in Memphis, Tennessee. The film premiered at BAM's New Voices in Black Cinema in 2013 and secured a distribution deal with SnagFilms.com..

Her 2014 release, Kenya's Eyes, marked a career high point. The film explores the haunting reality of a young girl facing bullying and exploitation, and was featured at prestigious festivals such as Langston Hughes, BET Hollywood Indie Night, Sista's Doin' It for Themselves, and the BronzeLens Film Festival.

Through her production company, Enigma Filmworks, Kecia partnered with Dot Com Entertainment to produce The Uptown Comedy Club: The Birth of Hip Hop Comedy. This vibrant documentary chronicles the legendary Harlem stage that launched the careers of comedy icons like Tracy Morgan, JB Smoove, Flex Alexander, Jim Breuer, and Kim Whitley.

Her work has been spotlighted in Brunch Magazine, Shadow & Act, Electronic Urban Report, JCSU Alumni Spotlight, Humor Mill Magazine, and BRIC Arts Media. Currently part of the operations team at NFL Network, Kecia continues to push creative boundaries and pursue new storytelling frontiers.
