Biography

Mark Weber is an entrepreneur with a passion for filmmaking and social ventures. As the visionary and leader for the production of Strong Bodies Fight, Mark was able to combine these passions in the pursuit of his first feature documentary.

Mark's inspiration for the film came from his experience at Notre Dame as a four-year boxer, captain, and president of the Bengal Bouts. Enthralled by the history, fraternity, and mission of the program, Mark saw a story that needed to be shared with the world. As a junior film student and boxing captain, he surrounded himself with a talented crew and set out to Bangladesh on what would become the passion project of a lifetime. Three years, three trips to Bangladesh, multiple rough cuts, and thousands of volunteer hours later, SBF is ushering in new era of the Bengal Bouts and delivering knockout punches to audiences and festivals around the country.

Beyond the production of SBF, Mark has stayed closely engaged with Bangladesh. In 2008, he worked with Notre Dame to found an annual international service program in which four student-boxers spend their summers teaching English in rural villages in Bangladesh. He has also led video production and social media workshops for the missionaries.

In addition to his continued work with SBF, Mark has teamed up with a new social venture called PovertyCure. PovertyCure is a multi-million dollar international initiative (including a feature documentary film and a web shorts series) focused on the advancement of enterprise solutions to poverty. With the purpose of connecting good intentions with sound economics, PovertyCure draws on the voices of political leaders, development economists, and every-day entrepreneurs from around the world. purpose is to advance the principles known to enable human flourishing and unleash the entrepreneurial spirit that already fills the developing world.
