Shanice Banton is a Canadian actress best known for her recurring role as Violet Hart on the internationally acclaimed, award-winning series Murdoch Mysteries (Seasons 11-17). Now in its twentieth season, the globally broadcast drama remains one of Canada’s most successful and enduring television series.
She is set to appear in Vought Rising, an upcoming prequel set within the world of The Boys, the Emmy-nominated Prime Video action-thriller franchise.
She first gained national attention for her three-season arc on the Emmy-nominated teen drama Degrassi: The Next Generation, a culturally influential franchise recognized for launching a generation of Canadian talent.
Her additional film and television credits include a supporting role in the critically acclaimed Jesse Owens biopic Race, a leading role in Lifetime’s Her Stolen Past, recurring appearances on CBC’s Diggstown, and a return to the Murdoch universe in the digital spin-off Macy Murdoch. She also appears in the Netflix limited series The Madness starring Colman Domingo.
She is a graduate of Toronto’s Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts, where she trained in drama and musical theatre, and is based in Toronto.
