Emily Gotto is an accomplished international film executive, producer, and curator who serves as the Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and Production for Shudder, AMC Networks' premier streaming service. Based out of the United Kingdom, Gotto manages the global sourcing, financing, and development of Shudder's ambitious slate of original feature films and co-productions. Widely recognized across the global film festival circuit for her sharp curatorial instincts, she has been instrumental in transforming Shudder from a niche platform into a leading, internationally renowned brand for independent genre cinema.
Gotto established her formidable reputation in independent cinema prior to her tenure at AMC Networks. She served as an Acquisitions Executive at Protagonist Pictures, a highly regarded international sales and financing company. During her time there, she helped track, package, and sell an array of critically acclaimed independent features, including Taika Waititi’s breakout adventure-comedy Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016), Michael Pearce's BAFTA-winning psychological thriller Beast (2017), and William Oldroyd's award-winning drama Lady Macbeth (2016). She also worked directly with Waititi’s production outfit, Piki Films, serving as their international packaging and sales representative.
She joined the Shudder team as Director of Global Acquisitions and Co-Productions, quickly advancing through the leadership ranks to Vice President. Her knack for spotting unique independent horror scripts and raw cinematic talent led to a major wave of global success for the streaming platform. She spearheaded the tracking, negotiation, and acquisition of several of the most talked-about and viral genre phenomena of the decade. Among her signature platform-defining achievements are the viral screenlife hit Host (2020), the experimental low-budget sensation Skinamarink (2022), the terrifying Argentinian supernatural breakout When Evil Lurks (2023), the acclaimed Australian hit Late Night with the Devil (2023), and the award-winning Irish horror film Oddity (2024).
Recognising her exceptional contributions to the brand's growth and her skill at navigating the competitive landscape of independent distribution, AMC Networks officially promoted Gotto to Senior Vice President in May 2024. In this elevated role, she works directly alongside the Head of the Film Group, Scott Shooman, to dictate the creative and financial direction of Shudder's independent productions.
Beyond her executive leadership, Gotto is a prolific producer and executive producer who actively champions emerging international voices. Her extensive producing and executive production credits span dozens of acclaimed films, including Caitlin Cronenberg’s Humane (2024), the French creature feature Infested (2023), Brooklyn 45 (2023), Suitable Flesh (2023), the horror documentary Doc of Chucky (2024), and the thriller The Incomer (2026) starring Domhnall Gleeson. Gotto is also an alumna of the prestigious Inside Pictures international film business training programme.
