Biography

Haydn West has worked as a photographer for national and international news agencies like Reuters, Agence France Presse and Getty. He has covered riots in Belfast, war in Chad and Premiership Football. He was the picture editor of Metro Ireland before resigning to follow his dream of becoming a producer and filmmaker. Haydn has since produced TV commercials for Substantial Films and directed Plane Crazy, a documentary about the expansion of Lydd Airport in Kent.

Haydn West began his career as the staff Ireland photographer for the Press Association before transitioning to film as a cinematographer and producer. A passionate admirer of neorealist cinema, Haydn seeks out stories set in less familiar locations, focusing on the lives of ordinary people told with humor and imagination. Haydn believes cinema has a responsibility to reflect the times we live in and contribute to the regeneration of culture.
