Biography

  • Larry Tazuma was born and raised in Seattle and graduated from the Edward R. Murrow school of broadcasting at Washington State Univ. He briefly worked in TV news for KIRO-TV before moving to Los Angeles where he helped start (and coin the name of) Yolk, an Asian-American pop culture magazine. He was promoted to Editor in Chief of Yolk and toured the country in promotion of the magazine. During this time, he also served as editor of KoreAm Journal, a Korean-American publication.

Transitioning to the advertising industry, Larry worked for a number of agencies including BBDO, Eclipse, Terry Hines, and David & Goliath. He also worked for Lions Gate/Artisan Entertainment in the home entertainment department, as well as Princess Cruises and the Editors Guild's CineMontage magazine.

While working in the advertising industry, he was often cast in international commercials for local production companies. Encouraged by the work, he went on to sign with Bobby Ball's commercial agency where he served as principal performer in over 50 TV commercials, print campaigns and industrial videos.

After taking a 12-year break, he joined with Alvarado Rey's Cinthia Becks for commercial, print and theatrical representation.

He took a year-long intensive with the Asian-American improv group, Cold Tofu, under the tutelage of Aaron Takahashi. He's also studied the martial art Jeet Kune Do with actor Jason Scott Lee, sifu Jerry Poteet, sifu Jesse Glover and most recently with the Inosanto Academy. He spent nearly three years, twice a week, in private training with Jerry Poteet. Larry also studied escrima, Filipino knife fighting and Ta-te, which is live samurai sword fighting for the stage.
