Biography

Originally born in Kenya, Africa, Silva moved to Canada in 1998 with his older brother at the age of 14, settling down in Edmonton, Alberta with his mom, step-dad and step-sister. While in high school, he developed an interest in film after taking a Film Analysis course offered by the school. Citing filmmaking producers such as Jerry Bruckheimer, Brian Grazer and Stephen Spielberg as major influences, Silva decided to make it his goal to become an established Film and Television Producer.

In Edmonton, he enrolled in the Theatre Production program to get a feel of the dramatic arts in Theatre. This led to numerous gigs working as a stage technician in local theatre productions, ultimately leading to a job working for Carnival Cruise Lines as an entertainment technician aboard cruise ships such as the Carnival Liberty, Carnival Pride and Carnival Fascination. Three years later, he enrolled himself at the Vancouver Film School where he broadened his skills in filmmaking. During his tenure there, he produced and directed three student films, attended numerous film festivals and worked as a production assistant on music videos, commercials, and short films. He quickly developed a fascination for the independent circuit, and has involved himself in a number of independent productions in and around Vancouver in an effort to absorb the challenges of producing low budget features.
