Biography

Andrena Hale

Mini bio

  • Andrena Hale is a show runner, executive producer, writer, and director whose career has been defined by one constant: finding the stories others overlook and building the platforms to tell them. With over 35 television credits spanning documentary series, prime time network entertainment, and now scripted film - including work for ABC, CBS, Netflix, Fox, MAX, BET, A&E, Bravo, VICE, and WeTV - she has established herself as one of television's most versatile creative forces.

With her debut scripted feature, Thru the Eyes of the Hustlers' Daughter - which she co-wrote and directed - Andrena has crossed fully into narrative filmmaking, bringing the same cultural precision and character-driven instinct that has shaped her documentary work into a new form.

Her path to television ran through theater and music. At New Federal Theatre, working alongside her cousin, legendary Broadway producer Woodie King, Jr., she wrote and produced stage work including With Certain Regrets, starring the late Michael K. Williams, Andre Royo, and Yolonda Ross. Her ten-minute play I Do was recognized at Going to the River: A Celebration of African American Women Playwrights at the Ensemble Studio Theatre in New York City.

Before that, she was deep inside the music industry - first as a Director's Rep at Riviera Films, representing Gus Van Sant, Fab 5 Freddy, and Roman Coppola, and producing videos for Elton John, Nas, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mobb Deep, Donna Summer, and KRS-One. She went on to manage Grammy-winning producer Rockwilder and the legendary Da Beatminerz before becoming Director of Producer Management at Bad Boy Entertainment, where she oversaw the iconic Hitmen production team.

A product of Manhattan's School of Visual Arts film program, Andrena is now in active development on a slate of documentary and scripted projects that reflect the full range of what she's built. She splits her time between Los Angeles and her hometown of Detroit.
