Biography

Matěj Pichler is a Czech director and producer whose work spans feature films, documentaries, television, commercials, music videos, and travel documentaries. He began his filmmaking career while studying at the Miroslav Ondříček Film Academy in Písek, where he directed several short films, including Pomodlím tě, Rychlé šípy, Lilie, and Prstýnek.

His feature film debut was the mystery thriller Daria (2020). In 2025, he wrote, directed, and produced the documentary comedy Magoři na kole. As a creative producer and co-producer, he has also contributed to projects including Identity: A Film About Czech Graphic Design, Holka od vedle (The Girl Next Door, 2025), and the black comedy She Came at Night (2023).

In addition to his film work, Pichler has directed television programs, commercials for brands including Czech Post, Jägermeister, and iNELS, and music videos for artists such as The Tenors, Kristína, and Zakázaný ovoce. He has also spent more than a decade teaching at secondary film schools, mentoring the next generation of filmmakers.
