Sophia Pino is a movie studio executive, screenwriter, and producer. She held previous executive positions at The Walt Disney Company and 20th Century Studios. Pino has worked on acclaimed TV shows such as Homeland, Fosse/Verdon, and Genius as well as high-profile movies such as Ferrari (2023) with Adam Driver and Penelope Cruz, Happy Gilmore 2 (2025) with Adam Sandler, and Greenland 2 (2026) with Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin.
Pino is featured on Roger Ebert's website for her project at Harvard Westlake School titled "A Gum's Life", which was screened at 20 film festivals including LA Film Festival, National Film Festival for Talented Youth, and Newport Beach Film Festival, and for which she won the Kenneth and Harle Montgomery Prize for Best Child-Produced Film at the 27th Annual Chicago International Children's Film Festival in 2010. Ebert wrote in his review: "I don't know about you guys, but my empathy was fully engaged; I'll never again look at a stick of gum in quite the same way..."
Pino graduated from University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and TV Production, a Minor in Finance, and an emphasis in Pre-Law. She earned a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Technology Leadership from University of California, Los Angeles Anderson School of Management, where she was placed on the Dean's List with a GPA of 3.9. Pino sits on the Board of Directors of USC's Women of Cinematic Arts group.
Pino is a strategic thinker who takes a creative approach to problem-solving and does what it takes to see one's vision to reality, whether it be a key enterprise initiative or a TV/film concept. After film school, she joined the motion picture talent department at ICM Partners (now part of CAA) under Joe Funicello and worked on "Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!" (2018) and on the Golden Globe and Emmy-winning TV Series "Chernobyl" (HBO, 2019).
Pino joined 20th Century Fox during the Acquisition of 21st Century Fox by Disney, reporting to TV Studio President Bert Salke. She worked on projects such as "Homeland," (Showtime, 2011-2020), "Genius" (National Geographic, 2018), "Queen of the South" (USA Network, 2016-21), "Mayans" (FX, 2018-23), "The Hot Zone" (National Geographic, 2019), "The Ratched" (Netflix, 2020), Emmy-winning "Pose" (FX, 2018-21), and Golden Globe and Emmy-winning "Fosse/Verdon" (FX, 2019).
Once The Walt Disney Company's acquisition of 21st Century Fox was finalized, Pino started a new role managing operations for the office of Executive Chairman and CEO Bob Iger during a period in which COVID-19 impacted the enterprise's many lines of business. With Bob Chapek taking over as CEO, Iger left Disney at the end of 2021 and Pino assumed a new role driving strategic alignment for company-wide initiatives and campaigns across all brands and divisions such as Walt Disney Studios, the theme parks Disneyland and Disney World, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, Hulu, Disney+, Pixar, National Geographic, FX Networks, ESPN, ABC, and ABC News. Such initiatives included producing the bi-annual D23 Expo event in 2022 at the Anaheim Convention Center which featured major announcements on upcoming content such as Avatar: The Way of Water, Thunderbolts, Captain America: Brave New World, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Secret Invasion, Armor Wars, The Mandalorian Season 3, Andor, Ahsoka, Wish, Snow White, Hocus Pocus 2, Disenchanted, Peter Pan & Wendy, Haunted Mansion, Mufasa: The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Elemental, Inside Out 2, Strange World, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Loki Season 2, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Ironheart, Daredevil: Born Again, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, and Indiana Jones 5. Other initiatives included Disney+ Day, Star Wars Day, Disney's 100th anniversary on October 26, 2023 as well as synergy support for key theatrical title releases.
Pino left Disney in 2023 to join STX Entertainment as their Chief of Staff, acting as proxy and key strategic advisor to the Chairman, Bob Simonds. She oversaw the development and production of titles such as Happy Gilmore 2 (2025) as well as executed the rollout and funding of an AI storytelling venture. Pino is also writing and developing her own projects: TV series "Astra", "Departure" and "Corporate Savage" as well as feature script, "Vengeance at Dusk." In 2025, Pino left STX to join the global consulting company Actum as their Chief of Staff, partnering directly with the Co-Founders to drive business development, strategy, and operations.
