Dan Shapiro and Alex Topaller are Grammy Award-winning filmmakers and founders of the New York-based, design-driven studio AGGRESSIVE.
Their science-fiction short Escape Attempt, based on the Strugatsky brothers' novel, premiered at Sitges and won Best Sci-Fi at Tallinn Black Nights (HÕFF), the Audience Award at Les Utopiales, and the Grand Prize at FilmQuest. Their immersive documentary Murals, which uses cutting-edge 3D scanning to place viewers face to face with the war devastation in Ukraine alongside Banksy's artworks, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and earned the Audience Award for Best Art & XR at BFI London Film Festival and Best International Immersive at DocEdge.
Their two decades of work include music videos for Michael Jackson, Pharrell Williams, Juanes, and an XR concert for Alicia Keys, with honors spanning the Grammys, Cannes Lions, MTV VMAs, D&AD, and The One Show. Their pioneering experiences have exhibited at SXSW, the Victoria & Albert Museum, and the UN General Assembly, with features in Variety, The New York Times, WIRED, Vogue, and Vanity Fair.
