  • Turkish film director, producer and educator. He was born in Balikesir, Turkey in 1942. He completed his primary and secondary education in Ankara. In 1965, he went to USA to get his bachelor's degree on film directing and master's degree on mass communication. He also worked as a translating speaker and interviewer at the Voice of America Radio, and as the Washington DC reporter of Turkish Radio and Television. After returning to Turkey in 1974, he produced close to 50 documentaries in 40 years, many of which received various national and international awards. He also lectured at many universities and contributed to the education of many film-makers and academicians. He died in 2004 in Istanbul. Today, Suha Arin is commonly recognized as the grand old master of the Turkish documentary cinema.
