- Amir O. is a Los Angeles-based writer, producer, and founder of Soul Mining Productions. His work blends sharp social satire with stories about characters grappling with identity, connection, and belonging. His feature screenplay The Apology won the Grand Prize at Slamdance, and several of his screenplays have received recognition from the Nicholl Fellowships. His debut feature, the cult comedy Jimmy Vestvood: Amerikan Hero, won both the Comedy Vanguard Jury Award and Audience Award at the Austin Film Festival before premiering on Showtime. His latest film, All There Is, is an emotionally charged independent drama starring Laurel Marsden, Mena Suvari, and Jason Priestley. The film premiered at the Beverly Hills Film Festival, where it received the Audience Choice Award for Best Feature, and later earned WorldFest-Houston's top honor, the Grand Remi for Best Picture, along with multiple additional awards. Beyond film, Amir has written and produced several theatrical productions, all of which premiered at Los Angeles' historic Wilshire Ebell Theatre. As of August 2026, Amir is developing three new screenplays: The Book of Radha, a dark existential comedy; Freak, a twisty sci-fi thriller described as Taxi Driver meets Ex Machina; and Sun Dagger, a supernatural suspense thriller that won the Grand Prize at the Emerging Screenwriters Suspense Competition, with Ryuhei Kitamura attached to direct.
