Amanda M. Nevarez is a Los Angeles-based narrative director and writer working across comedy, drama, and hybrid forms, drawn to grounded stories about the people the camera usually pans past. She trusts a small, specific image to do the work a speech would ruin.
Nevarez brings over 15 years of on-set experience to her directing, including years as a First Assistant Director on indie and non-union productions and six years as a Second Assistant Director within the DGA. That experience shows: she's the person who doesn't panic, builds a crew she trusts, and gets a production moving when no one else can.
She made her mark as a director with Sally White, recognized by the Telly Awards, UMFF, and LAFA, and (as of 2026) is developing a slate of original work, including The Polygraph, Designated Mexican, and The Color of Everything. She is a member of the DGA, NALIP, the Chicana Directors Initiative, and the Alliance of Women Directors.
