Stuart hails from the Clydebank area of Scotland and was an Opportunity Knocks winner. He is probably best remembered for his single Amanda, which reached the UK Top 20 in 1973. He also sang the theme tune to the TV series Love Thy Neighbour and appeared on an episode of The Good Old Days, dressed in Scottish costume, in 1975. He later moved to Jersey and went on to entertain on cruise ships, still singing after 50 years in showbiz. His son Callum plays drums in a band called No Star Hotel.

    • Trivia
In 1971 he was booked to appear in the Cote du Nord Hotel's Blarney From Killarney cabaret show in full Highland dress to become, as one review put it, "Jersey's answer to Andy Stewart", singing all the expected Scottish 'hits' then doing the same with some of Ireland's songs.
