"Grammy®-nominated producer Timur Bekbosunov leads Powers Be Productions, developing a dynamic slate of YA genre projects spanning animation and live-action. He served as Chief Creative Officer at ACE Pictures Entertainment (2016-2024), where he spearheaded the Malaysian company's expansion into US markets through strategic development, and creative planning, before transitioning to Creative Development Advisor in 2025.
His producing credits showcase a commitment to bold, award-winning cinema: as producer on Clemency (Sundance 2019 Grand Jury Prize) and Blush (Sundance 2019 Competition); and executive producer on Daniel Isn't Real (SXSW 2019), Color Out of Space (TIFF 2019), Come Away (Sundance 2020), and M for Magic (SXSW 2020).
Prior to entering film business, Bekbosunov managed the large-scale cultural initiative Silent Steppe Cantata (Kazakhstan-USA) sponsored by Kazakhstan's National Wealth Fund "Samruk-Kazyna," coordinating over thirty governmental and NGO partners.
A CalArts and USC graduate, Bekbosunov brings a unique multidisciplinary perspective rooted in performing arts. From opera houses to experimental venues, his performance career encompasses everything from classical repertoire to avant-garde contemporary theater, bringing a fearless vision that bridges high art and popular culture. As an acclaimed vocalist, he has premiered over thirty commissioned opera and music theater works by distinguished composers including Oscar-nominated David Lang, Alpert Award-winner Anne LeBaron, and Grammy-nominated Nick Urata in venues worldwide. He is a member of the Producers Guild of America and the Recording Academy.
