Gregor Bonse

Gregor Bonse is a re-recording mixer working from Los Angeles and Berlin. He frequently supervises sound teams from the chair of the re-recording mixer and accompanies films and their sonic journey from first draft screenplays to the final mix, always exploring the question of how sound can drive a story. His work has been showcased three times in the Cannes Competition with Holy Spider (2022), Compartment Number 6 (2021), and Ayka (2018).
Born in Bielefeld, Germany, Bonse discovered film sound after spending his youth exploring jazz and experimental theater. In 2007, he moved to Berlin to attend the sound program of Film University Babelsberg, graduating summa cum laude. After explorations in location sound, music composition, dialog and effects editing, he soon began to specialize in mixing as a way to shape sound, music and story with a holistic approach. Long-lasting mentorship by José Luiz Sasso from São Paulo and Martin Steyer from Berlin has profoundly influenced his work.
