Biography

John Andrew Marchetti was born January 17, 1988, in Columbus, Georgia. From the age of three, John exhibited a love of movies, sitting for hours at a time memorizing every detail about them.

John began putting together his own films and videos of family when he was thirteen. While in Junior High, he was assigned a book report on Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None". In order to do something different and less traditional, John made a short film using Spielberg's Lego Movie Maker to tell the story. It was a hit in the class, and John never looked back.

While in high school, John expanded his knowledge and interest in film making by working on digital photo albums for friends and family, and doing videography work. During his senior year in high school, while in an elective film course, John wrote, produced, directed and edited a short film, "Vindictive", for a class project. It was this film that set the course for his enrollment at the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Just before SCAD and during the summer and winter breaks John worked at a local video production company in Columbus, Georgia. This not only provided him with employment, but aided his education in video production, sound engineering, editing, and filming various live programs.

As a student at SCAD, John has been involved in numerous projects; he has worked on over fifteen student films, including "Alone", "People on the Ground" and "Unfailing Grace". John also wrote and directed his current project, "The Terms", for his senior thesis.

John has made several independent short films, specifically a project he wrote, directed and produced during a summer break, "Seventeen Cents", which is based on a true story about his family.

John's main focus is on directing, but he has also gained valuable experience and knowledge as a writer, assistant director, producer, editor and more.
