- Brooklyn-born filmmaker Jon Navarro celebrates his Puerto Rican heritage and highlights BIPOC-centered narratives through his award-winning short films, including The Gypsy, Solëdad, Café con Leche, Enlisted, and The Republican-the first film to feature an Afro Latino American President on screen. A U.S. Army veteran with 14 years of honorable service, he earned a master's in Cinematography from Long Island University, before a 2017 accident shifted his focus to screenwriting. Jon completed Michigan State University's Screenwriting Certificate Program in 2019 and has since written several feature film and television scripts. In 2025, his film "Solëdad" received a Telly Award and was nominated for a 68th Annual New York Emmy Award.
