Brooklyn-born filmmaker Jon Navarro celebrates his Puerto Rican heritage and highlights BIPOC-centered narratives through his award-winning short films, including The Gypsy, Solëdad, Café con Leche, Enlisted, and The Republican-the first film to feature an Afro Latino American President on screen. A U.S. Army veteran with 14 years of honorable service, he earned a master's in Cinematography from Long Island University, before a 2017 accident shifted his focus to screenwriting. Jon completed Michigan State University's Screenwriting Certificate Program in 2019 and has since written several feature film and television scripts. In 2025, his film "Solëdad" received a Telly Award and was nominated for a 68th Annual New York Emmy Award. Jon's work reflects resilience, passion, and a commitment to telling diverse stories that inspire global audiences.

Jon's film The Opposite of Romance (2013) was written, shot, and edited in 48 Hours.
In 2016 Jon was the distinguished guest of reclaimed Hollywood director James Cameron as part of the SMPTE Centennial Gala, for a film Jon shot using his iPhone. The film, Soledad (2016) was nominated by SMPTE for Best Film Shot on a Mobile Device.
In 2017 Jon became the first student in the US to direct and produce an interactive movie. The film, The Republican (2017) debuted at Cinema-Con in Las Vegas.
