Biography

Mathieu Samaille creates Videopoetry, a new immersive art form that explores the sensorial bonds between text, sound and image, on existential subjects. He was awarded the Grand-Prix de Vidéo-Poésie at the Festival de la Poésie de Montréal 2019. Since then, his videos toured in a lot of countries and received many awards. A copy of his video-poem, Madame Jarrar, was acquired for classroom use by the Department of "Art, Film, and Visual Studies" of Harvard University. With the support of The Canada Council for the Arts, a solo installation of his work premiered in Montreal in October 2022. "Mort, un Moment » (« Momently Gone ») toured internationally in 2023. His video-poems are distributed by Vidéographe, CFMDC and Heure Exquise !
