Biography

Gustavo Vasco is a film editor working across both documentary and fiction, whose work has been widely presented at major international film festivals, including Belfort, Locarno, Venice, San Sebastián, Berlinale, IDFA, Hot Docs, BAFICI, FICCI, MIDBO, and FICCALI, as well as on platforms such as Netflix, Amazon, Movistar Play, and RTVC Play.

He co-edited the fiction feature The Kings of the World (Los Reyes del Mundo), which was awarded the Golden Shell at the San Sebastián International Film Festival, and the documentary Alis, recipient of the Teddy Award and the Crystal Bear at the 2022 Berlinale. He has been awarded the Macondo Award for Best Editing by the Colombian Film Academy on three occasions.

He is a founding member of the Colombian Association of Film Editors (E.C.C.A.).

Gustavo Vasco has worked as a mentor and tutor in film development and post-production contexts. He has been a tutor at BAM Rough Shorts, a program of the Bogotá Audiovisual Market dedicated to supporting short films in the editing and post-production stages. He has also served as a panelist for the Sundance Institute Documentary Fund and led the Rough Cut Lab and the documentary editing seminar at DocMontevideo.

In addition, he has served as a juror for the Colombian Film Development Fund (FDC) in the feature film post-production category, as well as for the Ministry of Culture’s call for non-fiction television projects.

He has taught film editing at the National University of Colombia, Universidad Central in Bogotá, and the International Film and Television School (EICTV) in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba.
