Biography

Katie Shannon

Mini bio

  • Katie is the creator and director of K&A web series and 617 The Series through her production company Thompson Films. K&A is set in the city of Boston, and this comedy centers around Karly (straight) and Alex (lesbian), best friends since college, whose dysfunctional, codependent, drinking, and drug taking relationship impedes them from ever finding someone special in their lives besides each other.

She is in distribution for her first feature length documentary entitled 113 Days, in which she followed the Stonehill Women's Lacrosse team in their 2012 season. The film was the recipient of the Oak Foundation Grant in January.

As an advocate for the LGBT community, she has written and directed two short films, The Morning After and Left Unsaid, which are currently in festival submissions. The Morning After is an official selection to the 2013 Boston LGBT Film Festival, Boston Independent Film Festival and SHOUT LGBTQ Film Festival of Alabama . Her prior short film, A Square With Three Sides, was an official selection of the Chicago Reeling Film Festival, The Santa Barbara Outrageous LGBT Film Festival, The London LGBT Film Festival, The San Diego LGBT Film Festival, and the Melbourne LGBT Film Festival.
