She has a B.A. from Vassar College and an MFA in Cinematography from the AFI Conservatory. Mendieta Córdova is fluent in English, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese, is an avid astrophotographer, and a trained classical cellist.
Emilia a member of the ICFC (International Collective of Female Cinematographers).
