Renae Maihi is an award-winning Indigenous Māori writer and director whose work has screened at some of the world's leading film festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Sundance and Berlinale.
Her anthology feature film Waru debuted at TIFF to critical acclaim and went on to win multiple international awards. In 2022, her film We Are Still Here opened the Sydney Film Festival, premiered at TIFF during opening weekend, and won the Best Dramatic Feature Award at the imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival in Toronto.
She is developing a slate of original feature films for international audiences with her company Mana Films.
