He studied film at Lee University and the Los Angeles Film Studies Center, where he gained hands-on experience in narrative production and industry practices. During his time in Los Angeles, Derek worked with Kopelson Entertainment, the producers of Se7en and The Fugitive, further refining his skills within a professional studio environment.
Since then, Derek has produced and contributed to dozens of short films and has built an extensive body of work across commercial, documentary, and narrative projects. His work has been recognized at film festivals worldwide, earning over 50 awards for excellence in filmmaking.
