Berry Oakley was born on April 4, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He died on November 11, 1972 in Macon, Georgia, USA.

Bassist on The Allman Brothers Band.

Was killed in a motorcycle accident, one year later and three blocks away from Duane Allman's fatal motorcycle crash on October 29, 1971, in Macon, Georgia.

Was part of the original line-up of The Allman Brothers Band.

Following the sudden passing of Duane Allman, it was decided that Berry Oakley be the new leader of the band. However, Oakley wasn't up to the task and felt the management were pressuring him.

In 1972 he had a relationship with Julia Negron. Sadly, Berry died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident when he was only 24. At that time Julia was six months pregnant from their son, Berry Duane Oakley, who never met his father. He was born on March 30, 1973.
