  • Diego da Costa is a film director, filmmaker and musician. He is a partner at Pietà Filmes and Cinelero Audiovisual, and a member of ICine - Forum of Cinema from the São Paulo Interior. He studied Cinema and Audiovisual at Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris. He directed, produced, and distributed the award-winning feature films "A Plebe é Rude" (2016), "Os Caubóis do Apocalipse" (2018) - his first independent fiction feature, which was screened and awarded at festivals, had a commercial theater run, and was licensed by Telecine and Canal Brasil - and "Selvagem" (2021). The latter, in addition to winning numerous awards, was selected in the "Brazilian Film" category for the 2022 Academy Award for Best International Feature, was chosen for the Platino Ibero-American Cinema Awards, and was a finalist for both the SESC Best Films of the Year and the ABC Cinema Awards. In December 2024, he released "Dona Elza", a film for TV produced by Globo Filmes, which was watched by over 6 million viewers. In 2019, he premiered the web series "NipoBrasileiros" in partnership with the Japan Foundation and the Federal University of Paraná. This series won the Brave New Series award at the Seoul Webfest. He also directed and produced the award-winning short fiction film "Argentino" (2011) and the fictional documentary in three acts "Circo K" (2013), in collaboration with Grupo Matula and Boa Companhia. Alongside his work in cinema, Diego is also dedicated to the musical project Sonora Fantasma, an alternative, experimental, and original rock duo, with which he released their first album in 2021.
