Edoardo Purgatori

Edoardo Purgatori is an Italian-German actor working across film, television and theatre. Born in Rome and fluent in Italian, German and English, his screen work includes collaborations with filmmakers Oliver Stone, Nanni Moretti, Ferzan Özpetek, Paolo Virzì, Michele Placido and Gabriele Mainetti.

His recent projects include Oliver Stone’s ‘White Lies’ and Nanni Moretti’s ‘It Will Happen Tonight’, which will premiere in Competition at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. He was also part of the ensemble cast of Ferzan Özpetek’s ‘Diamanti’, which received the 2025 Nastro d’Argento Film of the Year award.

Purgatori has worked extensively in theatre, with a particular focus on contemporary British and American drama. In 2025/26, he played Ennis Del Mar in the Italian premiere and national tour of ‘Brokeback Mountain’, receiving the Rainbow Award for Best Actor. He previously received the Premio Claudio Nobis for his work in theatre.

Alongside acting, Purgatori also develops original film projects.
