Biography

Kyle McCachen

Mini bio

  • Kyle McCachen is a Vancouver-based director, producer, and production executive whose career spans independent film, studio production, commercials, documentary, and scripted comedy. Kyle began making films as a child before moving into snowboarding videos that took him across North America and New Zealand. He later studied Motion Picture Production at the BOSA Center for Film Animation and earned an internship at Whitewater Films before being hired as a Creative Executive at Brightlight Pictures. His directing and producing debut was Why Don’t People Not Vote?, a $379,000 feature documentary funded by the Canada Media Fund and TVO, produced through Triple Thrifter Films with Dylan Playfair of Letterkenny. The film featured Justin Trudeau, Stephen Harper, Rob Ford, Burning Man, St. Louis, and Ferguson, Missouri. Since then, Kyle has built a wide-ranging career across film and television, working on major productions for Apple TV+, Netflix, and Amazon, including Avatar: The Last Airbender, Jack Ryan, and Shadow and Bone. He has also produced and managed internationally successful independent films including Spiral, Z, It Stains the Sands Red, and the award-winning thriller Influencers. As a director, Kyle has created short films, comedy pieces, commercials, music videos, artist profiles, and editorial-style actor pieces, working with performers including Dylan Playfair, Maddie Phillips, and Tyler Johnston. His production experience includes large crews, city lockups, stunt work, car gags, boats, prop weapons, Arctic locations, and commercial campaigns for major Canadian companies. Kyle brings a rare combination of story instinct, actor experience, production command, and real-world set leadership to his work as a director.
