Luchita Hurtado Mullican was born on October 28, 1920 in Maiquetía, Venezuela. She was married to Lee Mullican, Wolfgang Paalen and Daniel Del Solar. She died on August 13, 2020 in Santa Monica, California, USA.

Mother of John Mullican and Matt Mullican.

She was an artist whose works gained international acclaim when she was in her 90s. Her paintings embraced surrealism, Indigenous symbols, and portraiture.

She and her mother moved to New York City when she was 8. Her mother worked as a seamstress. Luchita secretly studied art instead of dressmaking when she was in high school.
