Biography

Jason Ryle is a film curator and programmer, in addition to being a producer and story editor of film, television, and XR content. Following a long period leading the imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival (Toronto) where he helped to greatly expand the awareness and appreciation of Indigenous Cinema globally, Jason joined the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2022 as an International Programmer. From 2013 until 2020, he was an Advisor for Indigenous films at the Berlinale, and in 2025 he joined the international selection committee for FILMFEST DRESDEN International Short Film Festival (Germany). In February 2021, Jason received the Clyde Gilmour Award from the Toronto Film Critics Association. The award is bestowed to Canadians whose work has in some way enriched the understanding and appreciation of film in their home country. His producing credits include SNIP, STELLAR, AMPLIFY, SINGING BACK THE BUFFALO, WILFRED BUCK'S STAR STORIES, AKI, and the cult favourite ENDLESS COOKIE for which he won a Canadian Screen Award and was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award.
