Mini bio

  • Dan Zlotnik was born in Genova, Italy, spent his childhood in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and at the age of 23, he moved to Mexico City. For over a decade he performed all around the world with different Pop Artists, jazz groups, and a wide variety of other music genres ensembles (from Gloria Gaynor to the most strange free jazz noisy band, and in front of 70.000 people or only 4 drunk guys in a bar). He recorded 2 LPs for Tzadik (John Zorn's record label), 4 CDs with his own Jazz Group (Los Dorados), and over 200 CDs as a producer, arranger, or sax player. Six of them won Latin American Grammys, and 3 of them won the American Grammy. Then he shifted his career to become a film and TV composer for HBO, Netflix, Amazon, and the film industry in Mexico and the US.

In 2016, he was nominated for the Ariel award (by the Mexican Film Academy) for the score of The Thin yellow line (produced by Guillermo del Toro).

In his spare time, he composes music for performances and 3D mapping shows with visual artists and choreographers from the US, Europe, and Japan.
