Bek Markas

Biography

Bek Markas

Biography

  • Growing up in New York City, performing arts has always been a part of Bek Markas' life, whether it was on the street, in school or at home. An only child and the first generation American, Bek was raised by his mother Bridgette, a single parent in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. As an early teen, Bek began playing guitar for a variety of punk and hardcore bands in the New York City area. He started touring the US, performing all over the country right out of high school. During a break from tour, he was invited by a friend to attend a "go-see." He and nine other actors were brought in to director Phillip Noyce, who happened to be directing "Salt" (2010) at the time. Noyce chose him because his hair fit best the period the scene took place in - the 1970's. This was a turning point for Bek and the moment he fell in love with acting. He enrolled in Wendy Ward's two-year conservatory in New York City. During this time, Bek was booking a mix of commercials, off- Broadway and film work. In 2014, he won the best actor award for his work in the web series "200 Contracts" at the Holly Web Film Fest. He continues to audition and work in all areas of the business.
