Rainbow is a British rock band led by guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, active from 1975 until 1984, 1993 until 1997, and 2015 until present. The band formed in 1975 in Hertford, Hertfordshire, England and the name was inspired by the Rainbow Bar and Grill in Hollywood. Rainbow were ranked No. 90 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. The band has sold over 28 million records worldwide, with 1'420,000 copies in the UK.
