Biography

Kristi Ray has never been very good at waiting for permission. An award-winning actress, producer, TEDx speaker, and educator, she co-founded Honey Head Films to amplify underrepresented voices and drive meaningful change in the industry. She's spent the last decade proving that filmmakers can, in fact, build their own path. Having starred in nearly 30 films; including the award-winning A SONG FOR IMOGENE (Prime), which she also produced - she's happiest on set, bringing strong female characters to life and reveling in the alchemy of building a production from the ground up. A passionate advocate for independent film, Kristi recently helped lead the effort to pass North Carolina's new Microbudget Film Incentive and co-founded Shoot Like a Girl Summer Camp in 2022 to inspire the next generation of female filmmakers. She is the Producer and a leading cast member in Honey Head's latest feature, JOJO AND THE FREAKS which wraps production in the early Fall of 2026.

Received a full scholarship based on industry referral to The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in NYC.

Her Great Grandfather, Gene Ecker, was befriended and loved by classic stars such as Audrey Hepburn, John Wayne and Elvis Presley during his prosperous career in the scenic department at Paramount Studios.

Was voted "most artistic" in New Bern High School's class of 2008.

In 2016 Kristi Ray co-founded the award-winning, all female production company Honey Head Films based out of Wilmington, NC. She holds the title of Co-Executive Producer and Creative Producer.
