Dr. Charles Opong was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Happily married to his wife, Esther Opong, they have two children. The son of Ghanaian parents, Dr. Opong identifies as a Ghanaian-American. With international film credits, Dr. Opong understands the international and diverse approach to film representation for African people, African American people, and Black people within the African diaspora. His film credits include Peter J. Eaton's Necessary Evil starring Danny Trejo (2008). With various media contributions, Dr. Opong's film contributions include writing, acting, directing, cinematography, producing, key grip, and show running. Dr. Opong's acting resume includes but is not limited to television, film, stage, commercial, print, voice-over, and mixed media/web content.

Acting is an extension and an artistic arm of what Dr. Opong loves to do. Writing and directing is a gift Dr. Opong believes is from God and his ministry and mission is to convey novel and true stories to enhance the life of the viewer and listeners of the film. "Visual art is obvious when we watch movies. However, we rarely say 'did you listen to the movie'? Listening is just as essential as watching a film; stories should be told from the psychological, spiritual, audible, and visual perspective as well".

As an actor, Dr. Opong believes performance should transcend ability or disability. "Everyone must feel something or be impacted by what you do, or else why are you doing it? Performing arts is a universal language that should be received by those who are experiencing you, while they can experience you". - Dr. Opong

Dr. Opong graduated with a Bachelor's in Communications from California State University Dominguez Hills in 2012. In May 2015, he earned a Master's in Educational Psychology from Pepperdine University's Graduate School of Education & Psychology. In 2021 he officially became Dr. Charles Opong, earning his Ph.D. in Global Leadership & Change Management from Pepperdine University's Graduate School of Education & Psychology. His dissertation title was/is; "In Film, I Too Sing, America: Exploring The Lived Experiences of Black Male FIlmmakers". His six-year journey in the doctoral program included trips to Asia, Africa, and Washington D.C. for policy research. His areas of emphasis are socio-economics, fatherhood, and proper child development. Dr. Opong is a human development professor and lecturer lecturing in ethnic studies, Critical Race Theory, economics, Pan-African Studies, and film Studies at various universities and colleges in California.

Dr. Opong's stage roles include John Polk in 'Am I Blue', and Mookie in 'Do The Right Thing'. He's inspired by Christopher Nolan, Martin Scorsese, Ava Duvernay, John Singleton, Spike Lee, Stephen Spielberg, Michael Mann, Denzel Washington, Oscar Micheaux, and Issa Rae, to name a few.
